Bug Hunting
Instead of completing the paging implementation, I got distracted with a couple of crashing bugs that showed up while testing Haiku, and they kept me busy for the last few days. Strangely enough, I could reproduce each bug easily only on different systems.
At least, I could now run Haiku with BitmapDrawing and Pulse in the background for over an hour (after which I shut it down myself). While playing around with it, I found some weird behaviour with the Backgrounds application which I am currently working on. If those problems can be fixed quickly, I will have a look at enabling Deskbar add-ons and replicants under Haiku.
After this hiatus, I will continue to work on the virtual memory manager. I hope that I'll can finish the bigger part of the work this year, so that I can complete it easily after my official employment period ends (only 2 days are left!).

Very bad news for New Year 2006 :(
Well, good and bad I would say
Bad part:
If I am not incorrect Axel - you like doing this, right? So, for you it would be nice to continue and get things done while they are "warm"?
Good part:
So, lets donate more.
I can of course only speak for myself, but after 2 years not using BeOS, I bought myself a good x86 box and Zeta (Well, no loyalty issue - the two projects cross breed).
This because I saw that there are people like you, Axel, who makes next version R1 possible.
So, after years of lurking I will start develop end user application, just to make sure that there are something to run on Haiku.
Thanks!
Happy New Year, Axel! :)
Any word from Michael on whether or not Haiku can keep you in employ for another month?
I won't be employed by Haiku any longer - but that's not Haiku's fault. I simply need a bit more money to live on longer term :)
I have another job that's starting tomorrow or so. But I wouldn't have taken that job if I couldn't continue working on Haiku anymore.
So even if I will commit less in the next weeks, I will still be around for the next few years if I can :)

So maybe it isn't so bad news :)
Happy New Year, Axel!
Thanks Axel ... thanks for all the work you've put in last year (and previous ones).
All the best with your new job.
